Secretary (Budget)-Member Finance Department Government of Mizoram 4)Dir ector,-Member School Education Department Government of Mizoram 5)Dir ector,-Member Higher & Technical Education Department Government of Mizoram 6)Chief Scientific Officer-Member Secretary Directorate of Science & Technology Government of Mizoram 3.Objectives and Functions The objectives and functions of the Society are as follows : 1) To promote the growth of science and technology and their applications in industry and human welfar e, with a view to develop scientific attitude and temper and to create, inculcate and sustain a general awareness amongst the people of Mizoram. 2) To collect, restore and preserve important historical objects, which represent landmarks in the development of science, technology and industry. 3) To design, develop and fabricate science museum exhibits, demonstration equipment and sci- entific teaching aids for science education and popularization of science. 4) To popularize science and technology in cities, urban and rural areas for the benefit of students and for the common man by organizing exhibitions, seminars, popular lectures, science camps and various other programs. 5) To supplement science education given in schools and colleges and to organize various out-of- school educational activities to foster a spirit of scientific enquiry and creativity among the students. 6) To organize training programs for science teachers/students/young entrepreneurs/technicians and others on specific subjects of science, technology and industry. 7) To act as a nodal agency of National Council of Science Museums (NCSM), and co-ordinate its activities. Ex-66/20172 8) To establish centres for development of science exhibits and demonstration aids in Aizawl and other parts of Mizoram. 9) To establish and maintain Science & Technology reference libraries and documentation cen- tre in pursuance of the objects of the Society. 10) To accept donations, raise subscriptions and receive grants, loans and subsidies from Govern- ment of India, Government of Mizoram and other supporting agencies in India and abroad, and to invest the resources towards the achievement of the objectives of the Society. 11) To do all other such things as may be necessary, incidental or conducive to the attainment of all or any of the above objects, with or without collaboration of other organizations/agencies. The Mizor am Science Centre will be registered as a society under the Mizor am Societies Registra- tion Act, 2005 (Act No. 13 of 2005).
