And whereas, the population of the City Municipa l Limit having crossed the threshold limit of 3 lakhs in terms of the Act, the Governor is pleased to determine that Aizawl Cit y has now become ‘a la rger urba n area’ in terms of S ection 6 of the said Act. Therefore, the Governor of Mizora m is fur ther pleased to declar e that there shall be a Municipal Corporation in Aizawl Municipality. Further, the existing Municipal Cou’ncil stands upgraded to a Municipal Corporation and shall now be named as ‘Aizawl Municipal Cor poration’ with immediate effect.
