Biakdawla entered Government service as Teacher on 16.1.1979 and his service was regularised on 1.12.1991. On 3.8.12 he was promoted to the post of Headmaster, Middle School and served on that capacity with utmost sincerity and devotion to duty till he breathed his last. Further, Section 7 of the said Act provides that the State Government may, by notification, determine that there shall be a Municipal Corporation for a larger urban a rea. Wher eas, the population of Aizawl City in the Census 2011 was slightly less than 3 lakhs. The population projections for the Cit y by va rious agencies have est imated the population of the City to have crossed the threshold limit of 3 lakhs, and the population of the City has been estimated at 3.20 lakhs in 2015. And whereas, the population of the City Municipa l Limit having crossed the threshold limit of 3 lakhs in terms of the Act, the Governor is pleased to determine that Aizawl Cit y has now become ‘a la rger urba n area’ in terms of S ection 6 of the said Act. Therefore, the Governor of Mizora m is fur ther pleased to declar e that there shall be a Municipal Corporation in Aizawl Municipality. Further, the existing Municipal Cou’ncil stands upgraded to a Municipal Corporation and shall now be named as ‘Aizawl Municipal Cor poration’ with immediate effect.
